INSTALL DRILLED FOUNDATION ELEMENTS INTO ROCK OR SUITABLE SOIL WITH MICRO PILES (UP TO 18″IN DIAMETER)
Micro piles are small diameter (18″ and below) drilled foundation elements. Micro piles can either be socketed in rock (“mini caisson”) or suitable soil (“Pressure grouted micro pile”). Mini Caissons have an outer steel pipe that is drilled and seated into suitable rock with a rock socket drilled beyond the tip of the casing then filled with grout and reinforcing steel. Pressure grouted micro piles have an outer steel casing that is drilled into suitable bearing soil then filled with grout and reinforcing steel before the casing in the bond zone is withdrawn and the grout is pressurized.
