DISPLACEMENT PILE DRILLING YIELDS SPOIL FREE, LOAD-BEARING COLUMNS
Generally, displacement piles are load-bearing columns designed to be installed without spoil material. That means no soil is removed from the ground.
These piles can be driven with hollow pipe, or a solid pile, (what is commonly known as a “driven H pile”). Displacement piles can also be drilled with no generated spoils and little to no vibration. There are several styles of uncased drilled displacement piles which include either leaving the auger/drill steel in place as reinforcement or removing the tool and installing reinforcing afterwards.
