PROJECT OVERVIEW

The redevelopment of this amalgamation of former Superfund and brownfield industrial sites along the shores of Hempstead Harbor in Glen Cove, New York involved a multitude of construction work scopes. It included the construction of 3,461 ft of new bulkhead, excavation for site development and construction of two marinas, marine dredging, installation of a new drainage system, sanitary sewer system, electric infrastructure, bike paths, parks and the site preparation for the erection of 3 new condominium rental multi-level buildings, including roadways and parking.

WHAT MADE THIS JOB COMPLEX

The complexity of this project was tied mostly to the sheer magnitude of the site and the unforeseen hurdles such as the elevated water level below grade. This project required specialized expertise, experience, and a high level of planning and coordination. One of the most challenging complexities was the coordination with State, Local and Federal Authorities. Performing construction while balancing interwoven regulations set by multiple agencies for the dredging, marina construction, environmental remediation, site work and infrastructure improvements set this project apart from the norm.

HOW POSILLICO SOLVED IT

Posillico took a very proactive approach to the challenges. Posillico ran weekly meetings with the client and the consultants, coordinating directly with the Federal, State and Local Regulatory Agencies.
