PROJECT OVERVIEW
The scope of work for this project included hazardous chromium remediation at a park owned by the City of Bayonne and the installation of a sandbag cofferdams in Kill Van Kull to facilitate excavation. This job involved the removal and restoration of a stone revetment system; general site restoration and grading; a dewatering system; storage tanks; and loading and disposal of contaminated soils. Posillico also performed restoration of a Korean War Memorial which included concrete pads, stone pavers, the reinstallation of memorial stones and sidewalk restoration. Posillico Environmental was brought in to handle the hazardous chromium remediation at a park.
WHAT MADE THIS JOB COMPLEX
Performing excavation below the low water mark in tidal waterway made this job complex and required installation of a designed sand filled supersack cofferdam. We had to remain aware of our close proximity to the community, activity of commercial vessels in Kill Van Kull and had to be sensitive of the local war memorial.
HOW POSILLICO SOLVED IT
In order to perform our work, we created a lower platform in the work area to facilitate the installation of sandbags as well as worked around the tide cycles.
