PROJECT OVERVIEW

The scope of the project consisted of performing underwater inspection of the marine terminal at Brooklyn Navy Yard using a remotely operated vehicle.  The goal of the project was to repair and upgrade the terminal to receive ocean going vessels.  Breakwater Marine performed pile removal of remnant pile structures, removed and demolished defunct fender systems and reinstalled new fender systems along the pier.

WHAT MADE THIS JOB COMPLEX

Working adjacent to existing structures while ensuring that pile removals would not damage existing pier supports.

HOW POSILLICO SOLVED IT

By performing a pre-construction underwater survey with an ROV, BWM was able to confirm the subsurface conditions while drafting a demolition plan to not damage the existing structure.
