PROJECT OVERVIEW

Posillico was retained for the turnkey delivery of design and construction services for three (3) vehicle parking canopies for PSE&G facilities. The project included the design and construction of (3) pre-engineered steel buildings, concrete spread footings, drainage improvements, and roof-mounted photo voltaic cells with battery back-up. The scope also included site asphalt restoration and re- striping of the parking area. The canopies were to be built in an active parking lot occupied by PSE&G crews and equipment.

WHAT MADE THIS JOB COMPLEX

The project presented challenges during both the design and construction phases. The design incorporated the existing structures at the site, such as the loading dock, maintenance garage and roof clearances. Posillico actively participated in the permit application process to address all the concerns of the client, community and the Town permitting board.

During construction, Posillico had to accommodate the client’s active use of the facilities while safely maintaining a tight and aggressive schedule. Soil sampling was needed to confirm that no soil contamination would be encountered during excavation.

Overall, Posillico needed to address the priorities and needs of all stakeholders involved in the location and the project.

HOW POSILLICO SOLVED IT

Posillico used its in-house engineering and architecture team to design and coordinate with both the steel fabricators and the electrical engineers. This provided a seamless design that fit the customer’s needs for schedule and budget while minimizing the impact on the existing site infrastructure. Posillico then self-performed the drainage and excavation work while subcontracting the concrete and steel superstructure work, to create an integrated construction process. Posillico was able to work off shift hours to accommodate use of the site by all stakeholders.
