PROJECT OVERVIEW

This project consisted of the support excavation, site excavation, and backfill at the NY Aquarium expansion project. Posillico installed 250 LF of vinyl sheeting for groundwater control to assist in foundation work below the water table. Approx. 11,000 CY of sand and soil was removed off site, and 2,000 sq. ft. of timber sheeting was installed, and one mile of excavation and backfill was conducted for utilities. This all needed to be done while protecting an active saltwater exchange system.

WHAT MADE THIS JOB COMPLEX

The original logistics plan was to work from east to west, but there were design problems and the work started from the west side and finished at the north side of the site. Another challenge was working and supporting all other trades in a small area.

HOW POSILLICO SOLVED IT

Posillico solved these issues by understanding the owner’s needs. Our goal was to meet the schedule without going over budget, which we were able to do by leveraging all available Posillico resources.
