PROJECT OVERVIEW
This project was part of the Brookfield Office Properties’ 9th Ave overbuild to install a platform over the 9th Ave rail system with a series of precast bridge structures. Posillico installed the south and track level foundations for the precast capping structure. The scope included the installation of a massive caisson supported concrete abutment, erection of a steel capping beam along existing railroad facilities, and the excavation and installation of track level foundations to support a work platform for the precast cap installation.
WHAT MADE THIS JOB COMPLEX
This project was part of a large and complex goal of literally building Manhattan real estate. The amount of coordination required with Amtrak, LIRR, NYCDOB, DOT, and other contractors on-site required a proactive and professional staff who could stay ahead of a very intense schedule.
