PROJECT OVERVIEW

Construction of a new 1.6 million gallon per day Sequential Batch Reactor Sewer Treatment Plant to expand Hauppauge Industrial Park Sewer District. The project includes the construction of two major concrete holding tanks with over 10,000 CY of concrete, 6,000 sq ft headworks building with associated mechanical equipment, and 6,000 sq ft operations building with associated equipment. Project also includes construction of a new sewer pumping station and a mile of new force main within the industrial park.

WHAT MADE THIS JOB COMPLEX

The project has to be built around an existing active sewer plant that has to remain in service during the entire project. It also requires drainage installation 30 ft below grade.

HOW POSILLICO SOLVED IT

Posillico sequenced the project and proposed the use of a temporary effluent bed to allow for construction of new process tanks a year earlier than anticipated. This also allowed for better sewer flow and reduced chances for any conflicts during construction.
