PROJECT OVERVIEW

This was a complete reconstruction project for approximately two miles of Montauk Highway. This portion of Montauk Highway is heavily traveled with mostly commercial traffic. The project consisted of installing a positive drainage system, two new recharge basins, interconnect traffic signal system, curbs, sidewalks, landscaping, and widening and paving the road.

WHAT MADE THIS JOB COMPLEX

Posillico needed to maintain the efficient flow of the high volume of traffic through the area as well as perform due diligence with respect to the large number of underground utilities.

HOW POSILLICO SOLVED IT

Posillico communicated with local business owners in the area and staged work to minimize disruptions to their businesses. Additionally, there were a significant number of utilities underground to be accounted for when installing the new drainage systems. Posillico performed test pits early in the project to identify conflicts of new and existing utilities. Posillico worked with the county to redesign a new drainage system to avoid these conflicted areas.
