PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Town of Brookhaven Landfill serves the disposal needs of the Town of Brookhaven and surrounding communities. Construction of Cell 6- Phases XI and XII, was necessary for the development of additional disposal capacity at the facility, making the schedule a critical component of the project. The scope of work included the construction of landfill liner systems (baseliner and over liner) to facilitate both horizontal and vertical expansion, as well as connection and interface with existing landfill features and infrastructure.
WHAT MADE THIS JOB COMPLEX
What made the job complex was that the Town did not complete the prep work, so Posillico took on the three months of preparation work. There was no extension of time provided which made things complicated. Weather was another significant factor in the challenges we faced because we dealt with rain and snow. There was also a lot of logistics and Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) coordination with the Owner due to working in an active landfill.
