PROJECT OVERVIEW
The project performed in-situ soil mixing for ground stabilization. After completing the Phase 1 remediation component, Posillico contracted with Avalon and self-performed 20,000 CY of in-situ mixing to stabilize soil for the foundation of a residential complex. Posillico utilized two excavators fitted with allu mixing attachments to complete the soil stabilization. Posillico utilized deep soil mixing tools to inject and mix concrete with existing soils to produce a “load-bearing” subsurface and eliminating the need for support piles. As Posillico completed mixing, the foundation contractor formed and poured foundation elements for the future building.
WHAT MADE THIS JOB COMPLEX
Posillico was responsible for all aspects of the projects including mix design, engineering, equipment purchase, grout plant set-up and operations, and mixing. The ground was extremely unstable and required careful preparation before work started and as work progressed.
HOW POSILLICO SOLVED IT
To ensure the successful completion of the project Posillico used specialized equipment, adjusted means and methods to adapt to changing field conditions, worked closely with the engineer to adapt the design too field conditions, used expert personnel, and monitored that the grout injection met all design criteria.
