The Posillico/El Sol Joint Venture teamed with Dewberry Engineers to carry out the project design work and The LiRo Group to perform professional engineering inspection on the project. Posillico was responsible for the management and construction of the bridges to accommodate the widened VWE roadway to be completed in Contract 3. The Design-Build Team took full advantage of the ATC process and developed an innovative method to build new bridge abutments behind the existing abutments while keeping the bridges open to traffic. Our Team constructed the new and/or extended superstructures for nine bridges, including steel girders and concrete decks. Eighteen intersections with the VWE service roads were reconstructed including new traffic signals and street and bridge lighting.
