PROJECT OVERVIEW

The project consisted of performing all aspects of the finished sitework around Tower 3 at the World Trade Center. This included demolition of an existing slab used for building construction, excavation and installation of bollard footings and a concrete sub slab with site drainage, as well as plumbing and electrical utilities throughout the site. The scope of work also included electrical lighting fixtures, trees, landscaping, and irrigation, along with finished granite stone pavers on all four sides of Tower 3. Work was to be performed in adherence to strict project milestones set forth by the owner. Lastly, roadway restoration including milling, paving, and striping were completed along Church Street and Greenwich Street at the site.

WHAT MADE THIS JOB COMPLEX

The Port Authority project site boarders Tower 4, the Oculus, the WTC Memorial as well as Greenwich Street and Church Street. This highly congested and high-profile area is host to some of the strictest site security conditions in the nation and posed numerous challenges for loading materials and equipment into and out of the job daily. All crew members, subcontractors and vendors went through strict background checks and were systematically subjected to employee and equipment security screening upon entry and exit of the site. The project also involved the difficult task of coordinating work with numerous public and private entities controlling different aspects of the site such as The Port Authority of NY and NJ, NYC Transit, MTA Capital Construction, NYC DOT, Silverstein Properties, and Tishman Construction.

HOW POSILLICO SOLVED IT

Posillico’s highly trained, safe, and effective workforce worked alongside WTC site security daily to ensure that all workers, subcontractors, vendors, and equipment operated safely and to the highest standards. A dedicated member of the Posillico project management team was tasked with working alongside WTC Security and members of the WTC VSC (Vehicle Security Center) to streamline communication and coordination of deliveries. Weekly progress meetings with all the public and private stakeholders kept all parties informed of the scheduled work operations. Posillico worked diligently to maintain communication and professionalism, and to deliver the project safely, within budget and schedule.
