PROJECT OVERVIEW
The project entailed the installation of 240, 6’ diameter Jet Grout columns along the perimeter of the property to cut off dense hydrocarbons from contaminating surrounding properties. 3,500 tons of contaminated soil and drill spoils was transported and disposed of at a permitted facility. Finishes included asphalt paving, marine bulkheads, new curb, and sidewalk.
WHAT MADE THIS JOB COMPLEX
Jet Grouting was performed along an active gas terminal and creek. There was a high possibility of impacting gas terminals operations and injecting grout into creek. Previous attempts to perform this work by other contractors were unsuccessful. This was due to loss of grout and installation methodologies.
HOW POSILLICO SOLVED IT
By working closely with our subcontractors and the client, Posillico developed techniques to successfully install the grout without impacting neighboring operations or the environment. Posillico completed this job without a recordable incident and received a top safety rating with Con Edison.
