PROJECT OVERVIEW
This project was part of the MTA’s extensive rehabilitation of the L Train Subway tunnel underneath the East River, after Superstorm Sandy created significant infrastructure damage. Posillico performed the installation of soldier piles at the Bedford Avenue L Train station in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, so the prime contractor could excavate from the street, down to the top of the underground station.
WHAT MADE THIS JOB COMPLEX
The complexity of this project laid primarily in the location of the site, in residential Williamsburg. The area had heavy pedestrian traffic as the L train is the main subway line from Brooklyn to Manhattan. The site was very tight and required precision in planning and execution, to performed work on a busy street with an adjacent active station.
